Supported Return to Training
The Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) programme is designed to ease your transition back into training after a period of absence.
You can read the basic guide below, which will hopefully answer many of your questions, or find further information on the NHSE website
Any trainee taking longer than 3 months out of training must complete a pre-absence SuppoRTT form as mentioned in the OOP page
Prior to completing the form you should discuss with your ES what support you feel might be necessary.
You should also complete a pre-return to training form 12-16 weeks prior to your return to training, and a post-return form as soon as possible after your return to ensure that appropriate resources are in place
Accessing SuppoRTT
A variety of resources are available as part of the SuppoRTT programme
You can find online resources on the NHSE website including e-learning, wellbeing resources and access to coaching or career planning
Further online resources can be found on the Learning Hub including adverts for the well-regarded Return To Training Courses and Simulation Courses. If you do not have a Learning Hub account you can create one here
A list of SuppoRTT events is available on the NHSE website, but we will also try to advertise them in the Upcoming Events section below.
Funding can also be made available for you to spend a period of time as supernumerary on return, particularly for on calls, to ease your transition back into training
Each Trust should have a SuppoRTT champion whose role is to ensure that the programme is implemented properly. Your first contact should be your ES and your TPD, but if further guidance is required then you can find the SuppoRTT champion for your Trust here
